DJ

Hugh Jeffner

Hugh Jeffner… also  known as DJ Orion is an Arizona native with over two decades of turntable smashing sets to his credit. This very enigmatic performer has been nominated 3 times for Radio Mixshow DJ of the year(2010/2012/2013) while seamlessly rocking dance floors everywhere crafting a unique and unmistakable sound. Razor sharp DJ skills, a solid studio IQ, and rock steady performances on  national stages have made this polarizing entertainer a must see event.

DJ Orion got started spinning over two decades ago during the turntable revolution in the late 80’s and early 90’s. His love affair with vinyl records, samplers, and talent to match has produced one of the most successful radio DJ’s in the US.

Living in the ever changing club scene and global music explosion, DJ Orion traveled endlessly in pursuit of nightclub residencies, concert performance opportunities, and any open set of turntables to jam on. This unwavering work ethic towards music was an unconscious guide to his upcoming radio career. In 1999, he moved to Indianapolis to pursue a new music scene. Once here, he aggressively reached out to promoters, radio personalities, and countless street DJ’s for gigs or a chance at commercial radio. Shortly afterwards, he met DJ Indiana Jones at prominent local night hotspot. This was the launch pad for a radio career that is still going strong. (WNOU/ RadioNOW 100.9/ www.radionowindy.com)/(WDZH/ 98.7 AMP RADIO/ Detroit)

This landmark decision to pursue commercial radio opened up opportunities to perform at national level A List events. Some of these benchmarks include The Indianapolis 500, NASCAR, NCAA Final Four, USF1, US Moto GP, NFL, and well over 150 appearances as an opening / backline (Artist DJ) on massive concert stages. These large scale event performances inevitably landed Orion in an up and coming Indianapolis based hip hop trio known as The Cleptoz. Despite never landing a major record deal, The Cleptoz regularly traveled and rocked many college campuses from Indiana University, Purdue, and the world famous Ohio State.

During this journey, he entered a small handful of turntable style DJ battles to sharpen his teeth on the decks. The end result is a well rounded approach to being a DJ using artistic creativity, track selection, and seamless mixing. This attention to detail has landed him weekly and monthly club residencies at premier venues. These consistent performances attracted bookings from many celebrities like Peyton Manning (NFL), Isaiah Thomas (NBA Hall of Famer),  and Lebron James (NBA) just to name a few.

Currently, Orion is reinventing his sound and image under the name Hugh Jeffner. This change of direction professionally is leading the way to a career as a producer/artist/DJ. Most recently, his production work landed him a few licensed remixes with the most notable being “Lunatic” by artist/songwriter Candi Lynn (www.candilynn.com)

Most recently he has landed residencies in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and Detroit. Look for Mr. Jeffner in your market soon.
