DJ William

DJ William “Kato” Otero has been making and breaking artists while spinning at the hottest clubs for the past 20 years. His list of clubs include: Emerald City, Club 2000, The Fever, Tropicana, Bay Street, The Wonder Bar, The Supper Club (NJ), and many others. William is well respected not only as a DJ with a vast knowledge of the music industry, but also as an individual for his ability to be sincere, truthful and one of the most humble people you could meet and work with. His opinion on which records are hot or not is sought out by old and new artists. Artists are not the only ones, record label executives also inquire which records have the most potential to become hits.

As most club DJs, Kato entered a record pool in 1991. VIP Record Pool was one of the most respected record pools for the American market. Latin music was beginning to get a lot of play in clubs and the birth of 97.9 FM brought about a new craving for salsa and merengue. It was in 1992 that VIP decided to start up a Latin division to satisfy the demand for Latin music in clubs. DJ Kato was responsible for starting up this division. He established contacts in the industry and helped create a new respect for VIP. Differences in thinking caused William Otero to break away from VIP Latino and start his own record pool. Here is when Latinos Unidos became a concept and was conceived shortly after.
