“Everyone listens to music. Music is part of everyone’s soul. It’s poetry in form of beats, vocals, and instrumentation. Music is life.”
At the early age of 10, Music became part of DJ Scoop’s soul. He loved to dance to various styles of music from all cultures. Inspired by listening to DJ’s mixing at Night Clubs and Radio, DJ Scoop at the age of 14 started learning to mix on dual cassette decks. Saving his lunch money, he finally decided to buy his first set of Technics 1200 Turntables, and a Radio Shack Realistic Mixer. He started buying records, and soon enough learned how to spin. His first DJ gigs consisted of house parties, birthdays, weddings, and later on moving up to mixing at festivals, nightclubs, & private events.
DJ Scoop linked up with some top DJ’s of Houston, becoming a member of DJ coalition called “Houston All-Star DJ’s.” During this time, the scene in Houston had fresh faces, and young talents coming up, and within these talents was DJ Scoop, who knew that he would become a well-respected and talented DJ. To further his career in the music industry, he got the opportunity to work for a urban station KBXX 97.9FM, and crossover station KHYS 98.5FM in Houston, TX, becoming the first South Asian known to work for top mainstream radio stations in the United States.
DJ Scoop’s goal is to be successful in any venture he acquires, “Music is my life, I like to inform world about Art of “DJing” and music, & making people dance is what I always loved, and I always will.” Being from Asian decent, growing up in traditional family values, and in a culture where one is expected to be a Doctor, Engineer, or Lawyer, DJ Scoop broke those taboo, and is continuing following his dream to be a great DJ, a Music Producer, and become a leader in the music industry by building bridges. “The music industry is like a game of chess, you have many moves, by making the perfect move its checkmate.”
Currently, DJ Scoop spins weekly at Lounges, Nightclubs, Private Events, and also tours around in different countries making his music be heard to the masses. He also has monthly Global Mixshow on Sky.fm Club Bollywood, as well as mix show on “The Slam Show” based in San Francisco. He is consistent on making various mix sets for his podcast followers, and does guest spots in various radio stations around United States. “I love to make people dance to the tunes I’m mixing. Music is universal therefore I consider myself to be diverse in any genre of music, I like to be versatile.”
DJ Scoop also is part of Uzazi Music Group, partnering up with Uzair F. (Golu), the duo recorded a top selling remix album “REMIX 101” and “The REMIXES” he has also worked with many indie artists.
