Alex Kunnari has been active in the industry for almost 20 years now and is still remembered for the incredible success he harvested with “Lifter”; a hit that was hammered by Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, PvD, Judge Jules and many others.

As Judge Jules has said on his BBC Radio 1 show on 18th October 2003 when he chose one of Alex’s first tunes for Tried and Tested: “Finland is not well known for great music records but it is known for Santa Claus and Lapland, which is a bit ironic because this man who has hosted me well in Finland, when I have played there, is originally from Lapland himself”.Originally playing under the alias ‘Modulation’, Alex Kunnari had great success with his tune “Darkstar”; which peaked at no.11 in the UK Cool Cuts chart in Winter 2002, with support from all major DJ’s. “Darkstar” was rated 5/5 by DJ Magazine and 4/5 by Muzik Magazine. As well as, “Darkstar” another huge hit under ‘Modulation’ was his tune “Spirits” which achieved support from many big name artists, being heavily played back in 2003 by Judge Jules on his BBC Radio 1 show for an amazing 5 weeks! DJ’s such as Paul van Dyk, DJ Tiësto, Johan Gielen, Armin van Buuren, Darude, Matt Hardwick, and Ferry Corsten etc also heavily played “Spirits”. It had releases on Paul van Dyk’s Vandit label and Ferry Corsten’s Tsu-nami label. Following on from his success under ‘Modulation Alex went onto produce music under his own name ‘Alex Kunnari’. The first tune under his own name was “Lifter” which achieved massive success and was played for a huge 8 weeks on Judge Jules BBC Radio 1 show from date beginning 15.08.2007, “Lifter” was also featured in “Tiësto’s Club Life”, “Armin van Buuren A State Of Trance” and “Paul van Dyk Vonyc Sessions” Up to this day Alex delivers successful single after single, having set the bar with his first tune his following productions have garnered success globally, and in 2011 alone, he released his tunes “New Life”, “Helsinki”, “Lost”, “You & Me” (featuring Emma Lock) and “Music”. His new slammer, “Taste The Sun” due for release is another notch to his belt. All Alex’s tunes are published on one of the world’s most famous labels “Black Hole Recordings” created by Tiësto. With the success of his own tunes Alex has also had the incredible opportunity to remix few bigger than life tunes that became hits worldwide e.g. Tiësto “Elements of Life”, Tiësto feat. Gary Brothers “Here on Earth”, Paul van Dyk “Let Go”, MR Sam “Cygnes”, Super8 & Tab “Mercy”, Chicane “Thousand Mile Stare” and not yet released new remixes for Paul Oakenfold, Delerium, Andain, Sash, Ferry Corsten and Andy Moor.

Getting his first Global gig in 1992 Alex has since played in several countries, most notably in Ibiza playing every Season from 1995-2010 performing well over 200 gigs at leading venues such as Amnesia, Eden, Es Paradis, Terrenal, Pacha, Space and in the season of 2008 he played at Privalige in front of over 10,000 Clubbers when he was asked by Tiësto to play the opening set. Other big gigs include Judgement Sunday events in Ibiza from 2005-2007 with Judge Jules which he played exclusively at and Loveparade in Berlin, Germany back in 2006 where Alex played in front of over 1.3 million Clubbers dancing around his float. Alex currently has residency at his own event in Helsinki, Finland ‘Club Colors’ he has played part in hosting many guest artists at these parties over the last 12 years. DJ’s such as Chicane, Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Above&Beyound, Ferry Corsten, David Guetta, Erick Morillo, Markus Schulz, Gareth Emery, Paul Oakenfold, Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell, Richard Durand, John Digweed, Cosmic Gate, Tall Paul, Matt Darey, Solarstone, Sander van Doorn, Lange, Hernan Cattaneo, Stonebridge and Agnelli & Nelson, Andy Moor etc. Alex has also had residencies at Ministry Of Sound and Gods Kitchen events in Helsinki. In addition to playing at those club events he has also used to promote them.

Looking forward with Summer 2012 on the horizon Alex Kunnari is taking a huge step in being the first DJ from Finland who will have his own event on the white party island that is Ibiza! And just like his colleagues the Swedish House Mafia from neighbouring country Sweden who have done events in Ibiza for many years, Alex is going to follow in their footsteps and bring 13 massive nights to one of the most legendary venues “Es Paradis Terrenal”, Sant Antonio, Ibiza. Alex Kunnari lives in a small country, which you never simply associate with, which means that the music is a universal thing, and from this little country, great trance sound is coming out………………
