Melle Mel
DJ Melle Mel grew up in Tampa, where he first started spinning records at the age of 16. Melle Mel got his chance to shine when he was given the opportunity to be a mixer for 93.3 WFLZ in 1999. Melle Mel started syndicating his mixes to KJYO in Oklahoma City, OK and WFKS in Cincinnati, OH. He then created the syndication network, “The Hit Factor” which was on more than 40 stations nationwide including major markets such as Chicago, Dallas, Detroit and Pittsburgh.
Melle Mel then made the move to Detroit, where under the direction of Dom Theodore he became the Director of Mixshow Programming for WQKI where he created the Channel 955 Bomb Squad. This team of five mixers revolutionized the sound and style of the station and took over the streets of Detroit.
While at WKQI, Melle Mel headlined several major nightclubs in the Detroit area and performed many shows throughout the country. Melle Mel has performed in many cities including, Atlantic City at the DJ Times Expo and several record label parties at the Winter Music Conference in Miami. Also while based in Detroit, Melle Mel did several on-air live club broadcasts in Chicago for Kiss FM.
Seeing the need to expand he gained a weekly mixshow on XM Channel 81 BPM which eventually led him to Las Vegas, NV where he spun live mixes for KPLV 93.1 The Party in many Vegas venues.
Melle Mel’s diverse style has had him spinning many genres over the years including: Freestyle, Florida Breaks, Top 40 & Hip Hop, House and Trance music.
Now based in the Cincinnati, OH area, you can hear Melle Mel on several radio stations across the country and in local bars and clubs.
